Sponsor as Wausau Teacher There is no chapter in the Wausau area, and this is a good opportunity to reach out and support expansion by inviting Wausau Area Teachers to attend the keynote speaker, the luncheon and the afternoon breakout sessions, including the Literary Competition as our guests. To do that, we are asking if you or your chapter would like to sponsor a Wausau teacher to attend. It costs $50 to sponsor a guest. Please let me know if you are willing to do so at [email protected]. Become a WATS! You don’t have to be attending the conference to be a sponsor. Please send the sponsorships to Mary Kenne with the form below. WATS Sponsorship Form |
Opportunities for Those Arriving Friday: Often we don’t have enough time to visit during conventions/conferences. The Planning Committee has organized some activities for those who are able to arrive on Friday.
We will visit the free Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum on Friday afternoon.
The Char Room in our hotel has been reserved for us for Friday evening dinner. Anyone wishing to join in the meal (participants pay for their own meal and tip) and fellowship, please indicate that on the last line of the Conference Registration Form.

Join us at the 2024 Leadership Conference to see and hear the Winners of the Literary Competition read their books and see the presentation by Julie Trafton on THE DOT.
“How Will You Make Your Mark” inspired by Peter Reynolds’ book The Dot – Julie Trafton (Pi)
Julie is a retired Art Specialist from Racine Unified School District’s North Park Elementary School. She taught K-4 through 5th grade students art for 30 years at North Park. She has a B.A. degree in Art Education and Art Therapy from Mount Mary University and a M.A. in Art Therapy from Mount Mary.
Julie is not sure how she found out about the book The Dot, it could have been from a good friend who is a librarian; or from a teacher at her school who read the book to her students; or it could have been finding it at her favorite local bookstore. Well, once she started reading the book to her kindergarten classes as a fun story at the end of their art classes near the end of the school year– she looked up the book on the internet and found out that there was An International Dot Day that is celebrated on September 15. So, during the last two years of her teaching career, she had all her classes celebrate International Dot Day in the fall by creating their own dots after she had read them the story The Dot. The dots were displayed on large roll paper in the hallways, so everyone could show how they made their mark! During her presentation participants will be able to make their mark and create a dot using a variety of art materials and there will be an opportunity to “frame” their dots for a fun photo op!
